Counselling, psychotherapy and mental health support to meet your needs

What to do next

The first step is to have an informal chat. Sometimes that can feel like a huge step, but everything you share is confidential, taken at a gentle pace that you feel comfortable with and importantly you only talk about the things you feel ready to share.

It's really important that you feel comfortable with me so once we've had a chat you can decide whether you'd like to organise the next session or not - it's completely in your control, there's no obligation. If you don’t feel I’m the right person for you that’s absolutely fine - I can recommend other therapists for you to contact.

So, if you would like to have a free 15 minute chat please get in touch on 07753 750619 or email fiona@whataboutme.org.uk.

Appointments can be made on Mondays and Tuesdays in London, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays in Tunbridge Wells. I also offer a limited number of sessions in the evenings and on Saturdays for those who work full time. Sessions take place in calm professional rooms for fifty minutes. Small group sessions take place in Tunbridge Wells or on-line.

Face to face appointments

I can offer on-line appointments or telephone appointments for clients who live outside the South-East, have mobility issues or prefer not to work face-to-face. You will need to have a private space in which you can talk freely and safely, and reliable wifi. For a free informal chat, please get in touch.

On-line or telephone

Walking in nature has many proven physical and mental benefits. Some people can feel very anxious or uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment so a Walk and Talk session may be something for you. We would need to have a conversation about suitability and you will need to be within a 15 mile radius of Tunbridge Wells. For further details please get in touch.

Cancellations

Things happen that throw a ‘curve ball’ in our plans from time to time. I ask for twenty-four hours’ notice please to cancel an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours before your appointment time, you will be charged for 50% of the cost of your appointment. Cancellation fees will only be waived in the event of a medical or family emergency or a natural disaster. I also ask that you let me know if you are going to be late for an appointment in respect of the other scheduled appointments that day.

"Fiona’s kind and patient manner enabled me to come to terms with a particularly difficult life event. Her realistic approach to life made me feel comfortable to completely open up and her encouragement and listening ear gave me the strength and positivity with which I am able to address the things in my life which I was desperately struggling with. Her reassurance when I have felt less confident has enabled me to find my way . Fiona provided me with the perfect tools I needed to overcome my hurdles, which I now believe is possible.”

FAQs

Can we speak before booking an initial appointment?

Yes, absolutely. I offer a free 15 minute informal but confidential chat so you can decide if we can work together.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of session you need is unique to you and your circumstances. Some clients find as little as 3-6 sessions helpful, others need more. Throughout the time we work together we will regularly discuss your needs, if you are finding the sessions helpful and agree a plan for ending when you’re ready.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

This a commonly asked question. Many people use the terms interchangeably but in general terms “Counselling” is a brief treatment that targets a specific symptom or situation, while “psychotherapy” is a longer-term treatment that attempts to gain more insight into someone's problems.

Is there anything I should think about when using online or telephone counselling?

It’s important that you have time and a private space in which you can feel as relaxed as possible without interruption.
